| The
Department of Automation (DA) is authorized to confer bachelor,
master and Ph. D degree. At present, the department has the
speciality of automation. Since its establishment in 1958, DA
has cultivated large quantities of excellent talents for some
fields such as scientific research, engineering and advanced
education.
The department conducts its teaching and research
programs to ensure students having integral abilities and
stable base so that they can analyze, model, emulate and design
control systems. Due to the special requirements of automation,
the department emphasizes on the broad and solid background
of students as well as their practical abilities. So, DA prepares
students in both fundamental theory and experimental skills.
The students must not only learn all the required courses,
but also practice the theories on laboratories. At present,
there are more than 300 computers and various kinds of advanced
control systems for the students' use.??
The teaching experiment center is financed
by"211" Project, including the Laboratory of Advanced
Control Systems and the Computer Aided Teaching Laboratory.
The senior undergraduates can enter the research labs in order
to directly participate in the research and development of
automation, computer and medical instruments. DMP emphasizes
on the training of students?? integral abilities and encourages
them to learn other courses, especially the literature ones.
Now the staffs of Department of Automation
include 11 professors (including 7 Ph. D advisors) and 15
associate professors, among whom 60% have got Ph. D or master
degree. Compared with parallel majors in similar key universities
of China, DA pays special attention to the integrity of theory
and practice, so it is greatly commented for the practical
appliance of advanced control theory by famous experts in
the country or abroad. DA undertakes a large number of projects,
financed by our country, the ministries and enterprises. Thus,
its research fund is adequate. In recent five years, DA has
won more than 30 significant prizes. And, it keeps ahead in
China on system emulation, advanced control, pattern identification
and system optimization.
The graduates from DA not only have solid
knowledge of automation theory but also operate computers
skillfully. Moreover, their system conception can help them
on work of automation control, computer application, sales
and management, etc. In fact, the graduates broad knowledge
and practical ability win them high praises from the enterprises
and companies.
